The Heart Behind our Cafes

VMCH social enterprise cafes were born out of a simple idea: that everyone, regardless of their situation, deserves the opportunity to work and be a part of their community.

VMCH’s social enterprise cafes provide job-skills training and pathways to paid employment for people with disability.

Our mission is that we support people with disability to find and sustain meaningful, Award-wage employment.

Did you know that there are 2.1 million Australians of working age with disability? Of these, just under half are employed (47.8%), compared with 80.3% of people without disability.

At VMCH we want to provide meaningful opportunities for people with disability through our Job Skills and Employment Pathways initiatives by providing real life work experience, traineeships and working closely with local businesses and organisations.

Together we can make a real difference to the lives of people with disability, creating a diverse workforce and promoting an inclusive culture and community.

Meet the Team Behind the Coffee

Our team is the heart and soul of VMCH Cafes. From baristas to waiters, each person brings something unique to the table—and their stories are what make our cafes special.

Take Olivia, one of our trainees at Where Is My Coffee in Wangaratta. “I wanted to be independent and buy myself things instead of asking my parents,” Olivia says.

“I used to be insecure but after the traineeship I feel more confident to get a job. I am very grateful for everything I learned during the traineeship.”

Are you a person with disability who wants a hand to reach for your goals and dreams? The VMCH Job Skills program is here to help you build your skills and confidence in a real-life working environment.
